Legend of Kuekuatsheu

Do you know why the moon is so lonely?

Because she had a lover once. His name was Kuekuatsheu. All the spirits lived in the world together. Every night, they would walk in the sky together panning over the great north; the northern lights.

But one spirit, the trickster, was jealous of the love that the moon and Kuekuatsheu held for one another. He wanted the moon only for himself. So he told Kuekuatsheu, that the Moon had asked for flowers. He told him to come to our world and pick some wild roses to illustrate his love. Kuekuatsheu saw this as a wonderful oppourtunity but there was one thing he did not know; once one leaves the spirit world, he can never return back.

This is why every night, he looks at the sky and sees the moon, he howl's her name but they can never touch again.

To this day the beasts of the earth still cry to the moon; baying out their sorrows to their love of whom is now intangible forever.

Three of my favourite sketches.

I made this using a charcoal based pencil that I found in reliance time out.
I just loved working on the hair!

The moon.
I just wanted to sketch something in negative. i.e., comprising more dark than light (more pencil than paper). I came up with this.

Mahathma Gandhi.
The Father of our Nation.
I sketched this when I was in Christ college for
October 2, 2006. It was put up on the notice board, but I never got it back.
This picture is the only remaining copy of it.

I couldn't scan them. These are the photographs that I took as soon as I finished them.
I've changed the brightness n contrast curve of these pictures for better clarity.
looking forward to see some comments!
